Writers and Whale Watching, Byron has it all this winter

Byron Bay Writers Festival

The annual Byron Bay Writers Festival, held from 7 – 9 August 2015, is set to stave off the winter chill with a literary feast featuring some of Australia’s top female writers. Julia Gillard, Helen Garner, Kate Grenville, Joan London and Jackie French are among some of the headline names on the program, the full details of which has just been released.

Held at North Byron Events in the Byron Arts & Industrial Park, the venue is just minutes from the centre of Byron Bay and you can choose to either catch a shuttle bus from town or drive your own car as there is plenty of parking. Special events and workshops start on August 3 and there are also many special evening events in locations around Byron Bay, Lennox Head and Brunswick Heads. With all of that on offer, it’s recommended to hire a car so you can make the most of the Festival. (Byron Oasis can offer you cheap deals on car rental if you’re staying with us!)

August is also an excellent time for whale watching, as humpback whales make their migration past The Bay from June to November. Most people are lucky enough to catch sight of them while on a walk up to the Byron Bay Lighthouse, or you can take a whale tour to view them up close.

With writers, whales and lower number of tourists in winter, August is an excellent time to visit Byron Bay. For those coming up in groups for work, the Byron Oasis offers spacious 2 bedroom apartments and 3 bedroom treehouse properties to have the privacy which you need for a work trip. Just a short drive or walk into Byron town centre, the Oasis has beach access and full resort facilities to make your stay even more comfortable.

Tickets to the Byron Bay Writers Festival do sell out fast! Now is the time to book your tickets to the Festival and accommodation to stay at the Byron Oasis .
